united states of slamIn 2014 I was lucky enough to take part in a small spoken word trip around the USA. I first performed in Seattle, then braved the snow in Boston, took part in workshops run by the louderARTS Project in NYC, found Jack Kerouac's roots in San Francisco, and marvelled at the warmth of spoken word communities across the world.

nuyorican poets cafeMy favourite performance venue during my time in the USA would have to be this one. The most vibrant, passionate group of people, all packed in a small room for epic amounts of poetry. I visited twice, once to slam ( a huge, one round, 30 person competition), and once to take in the might of Sekou Andrews 'Anthem of Awesome'.
